Photo Art : Ballerina Nightmares and Mother Mary Dreams

If you saw our newest edition, A New Baptism, some of this imagery may look familiar to you. Frankie Tan and I trekked down to Hive Gallery in Downtown LA to shoot with a longtime friend of mine, Diane Lynn. She had some veil and fabric ideas she wanted to execute along with these unique filigree finger claws.

Woman with red veil over her face pressing the fabric against her face and holding her neck with a crossed arm position. Intricate filigree finger claws on her right hand. She stands in red lighting.

I absolutely love this shot of Frankie en pointe. We sort of threw ideas on this one in the moment. I made these red velvet sashes. The visual was it was tied at the ankles. We added the blood halfway through the shots. I can only speak from a spectator’s view, but there is always something very dark about ballet.

Photograph of a ballerina en pointe. Showing only her white skirt. Her ankles are tied with a red velvet sash, and there is blood on her feet.

Diane had this beautiful white lace she wanted to use. If you went to A New Baptism, you would have seen my anatomical hearts melting in my hands during a scene. She captured this shot.
